Aloha Tower

Located on the harborfront in Honolulu, Aloha Tower is a retired lighthouse that is considered an icon of Hawaii. It was constructed for a cost of $160,000 and opened on September 11, 1926. It is located on Pier 9 in Honolulu. It offers breathtaking views of the harbor and is a great spot to take photos. Originally, the Aloha Tower served as a landmark and welcoming beacon to travelers arriving in the state. However, it was not until 1935 that commercial air travel began to reach the Hawaiian Islands. Today, the Aloha Tower has become a popular tourist destination and has many attractions to offer. There are shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues inside, and the observation deck offers a bird’s-eye view of Honolulu’s skyline.

The Aloha Tower is the tallest building on the Hawaiian Islands, and it is also one of the most photographed. The masonry building is square in shape and features a domed cupola. It is a mix of Gothic Revival and Art Deco elements. During WWII, the tower was painted in camouflage, but that was removed by the end of the war. Today, the Aloha Tower is an anchor of student life at Hawaii Pacific University. The tower has urban lofts for students as well as event spaces for large events. It is considered one of the most iconic landmarks in Oahu, second only to Diamond Head. It is a historic landmark, and is the second-most-visited landmark in the state.

During the World War II, the tower was painted in camouflage in order to protect its structure from the Japanese. It was used as a communications center for American military convoys throughout the Pacific. After the War, the tower was still under military jurisdiction, but civilian control was regained in 1947.

Aloha Tower is located in Waikiki and offers amazing ocean views and romantic sunsets. It also houses the check-in points for dinner cruises and other Oahu activities. The Alii Kai Dinner Cruise and the Paradise Cruise leave from Piers #6 and #8 of the Aloha Tower Marketplace.
The Aloha Tower is also home to a replica of the 950-year-old Byodo-In Temple in Uji, Japan. This temple is not a UN World Heritage Site, but is a beautiful place to visit.
